This urban legend has been circulating since I started working here in Iploy. It was a kind of story you often heard on Halloween. This happened somewhere between March or June of 2018. It was Kuya Daniel who shared to us one of his chilling stories in Van#11 2nd trip routing Lapu lapu. It was a rainy evening when he only had 4 passengers. 1 by the front seat, 2 in the middle and 1 girl in the last row. As usual most of them are a sleep on the trip, except for the girl in the last row which happened to be speaking on a phone maybe through a Bluetooth earphone. The girl in the last row arrived in MSY just in time. The other 3 agents were dropped on Montage. A few minutes after a message popped up: "Kuya kinsay pangan atong tupad nako sa likod, newbie to sya? Ni kuha man gud nako ug leche flan. Palihug daw ko check sa logbook. Naka limut ko ask sa iya name." Kuya Daniel replied in utter confusion: "Wala man kay tupad miss, ikaw raman isa sa likod." "Sure kuya, nag tabi pa gani mi kay buntis daw sya." He then checked the backseat as to maybe the girl was just hallucinating, and just left her leche flan. Kuya Daniel found nothing but a white candle. He checked the log sheet and to his shock at the 5th row was written a name Agnes with employee ID: 1987. I personally researched for any ex-employee with ID: 1987 named Agnes but to no avail. Looked for any information about any accidents or unfortunate events pertaining to a girl named Agnes in 2018 but still found nothing. Then I found this news article about a renovation of a small village in Basak Merkado just between Basak-Marigondon Rd. There was a purok that was named after the patron St. Agnes of Rome, an article about the entire village being burnt down in the year 1987 because it was rumored to be a compound of Mambabarang or people in practice of voodoo and black magic. The said village was now a myth and to this day becomes the heart of trade, Basak Merkado. With that Agnes could be one of those lost souls from that burnt village, they meant no harm. What we could do at least is offer a prayer. Especially when you’re in Van#11 passing through Basak-Marigondon Road.
